Missions & Outreach

At Hillside Community Church, we believe in actively representing Christ in every moment. This conviction shapes our approach to missions both locally and globally. As His ambassadors, our mission begins at home, extends to our neighbors, permeates every aspect of our lives, and reaches the farthest corners of the earth.

We are committed to serving in various capacities, whether just ten minutes away or thousands of miles apart. We love witnessing how Hillside fosters community among our members, no matter the distance. Our prayer is that everyone—whether local or overseas—lives out their faith as a missionary, feeling valued and secure in their identity as children of God. We encourage each person to serve as the Lord leads, with the hope that all may come to know His incredible grace. Together, we are making a difference!

Below you will find links that highlight the ways we are involved locally and globally.  This is our time on earth to help grow the Kingdom and leave a legacy.  What story are you a part of?  What story are you telling?

Passion Projects are a listing of many areas of ministry outreach through the Hillside Community.

Youth With Hope (Nicaragua)

At-risk children and their families have truly captured our hearts in Nicaragua. Partnering with like-minded Nicaraguans who have become family to us, we have journeyed together to develop programs that not only provide academic education but also adopt a holistic approach to foster healthy families engaged in their communities.

Eden & Emma Valle (Nicaragua)

Eden and Emma are such a joy to partner with in ministry! Their heart for caring for others and helping them grow closer to Jesus challenges each of us. Based in Masaya, Nicaragua, they are deeply involved in Youth With Hope and pour their lives into several other ministries. They have launched a support program for English studies for kids in Estelí and also pastor a church called Comunidad La Barca in the same city. In addition to their work with the school and church, they have started another ministry called Amber, which focuses on bringing freedom to those bound by addiction. Emma also serves as legal advisor for Compassion International for Nicaragua and other countries in the region. Click here to view Comunidad La Barca’s Facebook Page.

The Tipton Family (Spain)

In 2019, the Tiptons embarked on an exciting new chapter, moving to Spain to pursue their passion for evangelism and discipleship. With a heart for face-to-face ministry and creative media projects in multiple languages, they’ve been working hand-in-hand with local non-profit organizations to serve both the practical and spiritual needs of Spain’s growing immigrant community. If you're curious about their latest initiatives or want to discover how you can be part of their journey, feel free to reach out to them via email. They’d love to share more!

Luke Runyon (Uganda)

For over 20 years, Luke has been faithful serving in Africa, making a significant impact from the southern to the northern regions of the continent. His passion for growing the Kingdom of God shines through his work in discipleship, administration, pastor training, and sports ministry. Currently, Luke has initiated a well known and reputable program in Northern Uganda, near the South Sudan border, called Theological Education by Extension (T.E.E.). This program empowers pastors to receive an education without having to leave their congregations and families to attend a university. Instead, teachers are brought to local centers, facilitating a two-year educational journey. We are proud to report that we are over halfway through the first cohort, and it has been a tremendous success so far. Click below to learn more!
